Winhill.org was registered on January 27th, 2005 08:36:37 pm as a birthday present from my parents. I had been webdesigning for around two years when I first became interested in getting a domain. I remember browsing all of these wonderful [gaming] domains and thinking, "I want to make something like that".
Lenne.nu by Yumi was probably my biggest inspiration. I admired both her writing and designing abilities, and ended up setting standards for myself that were sometimes very difficult to reach. Often this frustration led to me deserting my online life for prolonged periods of time, until I once again felt the inspiration to design.
I am finally at the point where I am happy with my writing, designing, and coding abilities. I know that I'm certainly not the best out there, and that I will continue to improve, but I no longer have the need to get frustrated with myself. I feel like I've finally reached my standards, and am happy to showcase my work to the world.
Over the years I have had plans for many websites, but I never actually ended up making many of them simply because I could not be bothered to find myself a host. When I finally did find hosting, I was always so worried about getting my sites up quickly that I ended up rushing and not doing a very thourough job. Having a domain eliminates all of that. No longer do I need to find hosting, nor do I feel the need to get everything up right away. I also like the fact that all of my websites are now located in one place.
The name of this domain is taken from the popular PSX game, Final Fantasy VIII. Winhill is the name of a small town in the game. It was always one of my favourite locations, and I liked the way it looked when added to the .org extension. Kind of a boring story. To learn more about the town of Winhill, please visit Nostalgia.

Winhill.org is currently being hosted by SurpassHosting for US$4.95 a month. So far I am very happy with their service. Not only are their plans great, but they have same day set up aswell (when paying online). Aside from a few short periods of downtime, I have had no major problems with SH, and would highly recommend them to anyone looking to buy a domain.
I bought the domain name from Namecheap for USD$8.88 a year. They have fairly good prices, and are quick to set everything up. At the moment, I have no complaints with their service. It seems like it's becoming a regular occurence for Nell of DarkSparrow.org to save this domain just in the nick of time. On two separate occasions, January 20th, 2006 and January 25th, 2007 she has lent me the money to renew it until I could pay her back, thus stopping it from turning into one of those repulsive adservers. She also helped me transfer it to GoDaddy. Thank you so much Nell!
Like many of the young designers you see nowadays, I taught myself basicly everything I know about webdesign. My first experience with HTML was through the neopets HTML help guide, which taught the most basic html codes, such as how to change font and how to create a paragraph break, etc. From there I began my first website, a personal page hosted on angelfire.com. Naturally, it sucked and I ended up deserting it. Eventually, after a few years of viewing source codes, I reached the level that I am at today. In the future, I plan to learn php and get a good grasp of javascript.
At the moment, my favourite image editing program would have to be Adobe Photoshop 7.0. Occasionally I may turn back to PSP7, just to see if I can still work with that program, however a large majority of the things I design will have been done in PS7. I code everything using notepad, and upload via WS_FTP LE 95. No pagebuilders were used in the making of this website.

Please have a decent knowledge of html, and the ability to use ftp.
Good graphic skills are definately a plus. Being at my level or higher would be nice, which is not really that difficult a thing to do. Also, please make a majority of your own layouts.
Make an effort to talk to me once in a while. I'd like to know my hostees, and I've got both Msn and AIM. [contact]
I am currently looking to host:

I'm certainly accepting more than just these site types, however these are the most preferred at the moment. Hosting is pretty relaxed right now anyway.
