Through-out the duration of Final Fantasy VIII, the town of Winhill was associated with a few different characters. Below is a brief description of each character and how he or she is connected to Winhill.Raine [Leonhart] Loire »
Raine resides in Winhill, where she owns and operates the small town's Pub. Winhill is where her love story unfolds, and where she gives birth to her only child Squall.
Ellone Loire »
Winhill is where Ellone spent her early childhood. It was there that she lived with Raine and Laguna, where the three of them grew very close.
Squall Leonhart »
Squall was born in Winhill, however he is sent to the stone orphanage before he is old enough to remember anything about the town.
Laguna Loire »
Laguna ends up in Winhill fatally injured after his "grand escape from Centra". There he is nursed back to health by his future wife Raine Leonhart. After about a year of rest, he finally recovers, but decides to stay in the town. He quits the Galbadian army and takes a job patrolling the streets for monsters and protecting Ellone. He is disliked by the people at the item shop.
Julia Heartilly »
Although she is not directly associated with Winhill, Julia heartilly affects a few of it's inhabitants. Being Laguna's past love interest, it is natural that he is concerned with what it going on with her. Raine does not seem too happy about this and is, at first, hesitant towards the prospect of marrying Laguna.
