「 02. Friends of Link 」

On his travels, Link has met many people of all different races, one of these being the Deku Scubs. There are several different types of Scrub, regarding both how they look, and how they act. There are some specific non-playable characters, many of which either receive help from Link, or provide it to him. Regardless, these are all characters that Link meets along his way.

「 The Deku Princess 」

   (DESCRIPTION) 
Residing in the Royal Palace, located in Windfall, the Deku princess is among the more open minded of the Deku. Without her fathers knowing, she befriends a monkey, and when she gets trapped in the Windfall Temple, her father accuses the monkey of kidnapping his daughter. Link helps the princess to save that monkey from one of her fathers irrational punishments. Random Fact: Link is able to carry the Deku Princess in a standard sized [Zelda] bottle.

「 The Deku King 」

   (DESCRIPTION) 
Naturally, the Deku King is ruler over all of the Deku Scrubs. He has a fairly hot temper and is quick to accuse, especially when the issue concerns his daughter. However deep down, it's his fatherly love for her that drives him into his mad frenzies. Speaking of which, the king is quite entertaining when angry, as he dances around on his throne waving his sceptar in the air. It must be difficult for Link to keep from laughing.

「 The Deku Butler 」

   (DESCRIPTION) 
Serving at the Royal palace, this old looking scrub acts as the butler to the King and Princess. Once Link retrieves the princess, the Deku Butler presents him with a gift, which turns out to be the mask of scents.

Although he is rude to Link at first, the Deku Butler has a good heart, and has reasons for why he acts the way he does. Once Link completes his "obstacle course" he apologises, though you can tell that he is melancholy when he shares that Link reminds him of his son who never came home. In the ending video of the game, we see the Deku Butler, looking desperately at a small dead-looking tree, resembling a deku scrub. Unfortunately, at the time that Link passed through that area, he did not know the song of healing, and was not able to return the Butler's Son (the "dead tree" mentioned earlier) to his rightful self.

「 The Deku Subjects 」

   (DESCRIPTION) 
(The Deku Scrub furthest to the left) The shorter of the two Deku Scrubs shown here are one of the two types of Royal Subjects working for the Deku King. These scrubs tend to stay within the walls of the Palace, either in the Kings main chamber, or in one of the two outer rooms. Regardless of where they are, they act as guards, always on the ready to see and capture any tresspassing invaders.

(The Deku Scrub furthest to the right) The second of the two are the palace Deku. They are taller and thinner than the common guards. There are only two of these in the entirety of the palace, both of which guard the front gate to make sure that only Deku Scrubs are permitted to enter.
